FAQ

  • What certification do I receive upon completion of the course?

All student technicians receive a certificate upon completion of each course along with a concise course outline. These may be forwarded to ASTTBC in order to support applications to become a Registered Fire Protection Technician (RFPT)

  • Will there be more courses added and when?

We are working on expanding the course selection from the core five to a total of 12 courses, including BC Fire Code, BC Building Code, Canadian Electrical Code, Integrated Systems Testing and Fire Alarm Verification. Contact us to find out an ETA on these courses.

  • What if I have a background in electrical already? Do I still have to take Course 1?

Send in your transcript and a course outline. If you've covered all of the required topics, you'll be given an exemption and this will be reflected on your Dragon Fire Academy transcript as well.

  • I've been in the industry for 5 years and tested hundreds of emergency lights and fire extinguishers. Do I still have to take your course to be certified?

As noted in the electrical question, provide written proof of testing and these will be evaluated. It is recommended that the courses be completed as many codes and standards have changed over the last four years.

  • Will you be adding Fire Pump I.T.M. courses ?

Unfortunately, courses for this are taught by manufacturers and most of them are several days long as well as on the East Coast of USA. But here are a few links to training facilities: https://www.onlinetechxchange.com/courses/sprinkler-systems/americas/fire-pump-inspection-testing-maintenance-training-(itm) https://empoweringpumps.com/spp-pumps-university-fire-pump-training/
